There is something the summer knows that we forget to notice.
That abundance doesn’t ask to be rushed.
That the fullest moment of the year — when the garden is heavy with colour and the days stretch long — is also the moment to pause. To look around. To actually see what has grown.
This is a day for that.
Harvest & Flower is a one-day summer retreat at Little Dutch Farm — an invitation to step out of the to-do list and into the season. To take your summer break without leaving the country. To discover that the most nourishing thing you can do right now might simply be to lie on the grass, watch the clouds move, and let yourself arrive.
We will spend the morning in gentle reflection — guided by nature coaching and the wisdom of the season. What did you plant in the spring? What has come into flower? And what is still waiting, maybe in a different season altogether?
Not everything grows at the same rate. And not everything needs to.
In the afternoon, we welcome our special guest Monique, who will guide us through the art of harvesting edible flowers from the garden. Together, we’ll make a beautiful summer cheesecake and hand-crafted flower butters — decorated with the colours of the season. It is a practice in slowness and sensory joy. In the kind of beauty that is simply there, if you are present enough to see it.

Monique grew up in Zuid-Limburg, surrounded by good food and nature. Her love of edible plants began in her grandmother’s garden, where she picked berries and cherries for home-baked vlaai and pancakes.
While working on a care farm, she became fascinated by medicinal plants — and followed that thread into training in herbal medicine, aromatherapy, and nature coaching. She turned her passion into her work: foraging and growing for restaurants, and deepening her knowledge through training in tea and food pairing, botanicals, and cheese. She worked at Parc Broekhuizen and completed a placement with master herbalist Wim Maes, supplying herbs and edible flowers to Michelin-starred restaurants.
In 2021, Monique founded Natuuropleiding to make nature education more accessible and hands-on. She brings together her knowledge of plants, wild foraging, and cooking to help people discover nature in a way that is joyful, practical, and deeply rooted in the senses.
Retreats will go ahead in all weather conditions except for weather warnings yellow, orange or red. Then the retreat will be cancelled and you will be refunded.
