Our farm, a typical Dutch ‘Stolp’ farmhouse, was built in 1901 and is located 35 minutes north of Amsterdam in West-Friesland. The picturesque landscape includes a dike lined with magnificent trees, broad meadow views, fields of cows, tulips, and windmills. Even for Dutch people, this setting is quintessentially Dutch.
On the farm, we have a little meadow and stables with four horses, a little orchard of fruit trees, a vegetable garden, a pond full of water lilies, ducks, and frogs, and a constant choir of birds. Our two farm cats, Miss & Tommie, and our Bernese Mountain Dog, Balou, live with us. We are currently preparing to welcome a little flock of chickens and a little drove of pigs.
We are on a journey to take our farm off the grid and learning to live as sustainably as possible. The farm teaches us to return to a simpler way of living, to value home-grown healthy food, community, and nature. This simpler way of living is healing and reconnects us with nature. In Dutch, there is a saying, ‘boeren verstand,’ meaning farmer’s wisdom.
We have lost our way in our busy lives filled with constant entertainment, possessions, status, technology, and social media. These distractions are making us unhappy and leading to an increase in mental health issues.
Connecting with nature can heal us.
Reconnecting to nature, doing simple garden tasks, and being outdoors is proven to improve our mental health. It makes us more creative and allows us to connect to our inner wisdom.
It’s that simple, and we want to welcome individuals, groups, and teams to come and experience how nature boosts happiness and wellbeing.
Reconnecting with nature is also good for our planet. The more connected we are to nature, the less harm we do to it.

Kim’s passion for reconnecting people with nature stems from her own journey. After experiencing burnout, she discovered the profound healing power of nature and the fulfillment that comes from a simpler, more intentional life. She believes that our disconnection from nature not only impacts our mental health but also hinders our collective ability to address climate change. Through garden therapy and nature coaching, Kim is dedicated to helping others rediscover the wisdom of nature, embrace its healing power, and enhance their mental and physical well-being.
At Little Dutch Farm, Kim creates a nurturing environment where individuals, groups, leaders and teams can realign their strengths, develop a clear vision, and cultivate genuine connections.
