Key Benefits of Garden Therapy

How Does It Work?

In garden therapy, individuals participate in various gardening activities such as planting, weeding, watering, and harvesting. These activities are tailored to meet specific therapeutic goals and can be adapted to suit the abilities and needs of each participant.

Scotland is pioniering the way towards ‘Nature Prescriptions’ and ran a succesful pilot with GPs prescribing nature for (predominantley) mental health issues. 74% of patients reported significant benefits, and 91% of healthcare professionals said they would continue to prescribe nature-based interventions. This initiative is now expanding across the UK, underscoring the growing recognition of nature’s vital role in promoting health and well-being.
